McKenna grew up photographing music festivals, reporting for the Los Angeles Times, and translating at the Cannes Film Festival.  

She committed to Chapman University as a recipient of the NBC Universal LGBT Students in Media Scholarship and graduated as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa National Honors Society.

Living in both Brooklyn and Los Angeles, she now pursues comedy writing while working as the script coordinator for Only Murders in the Building.
